Handling & Installation Equipment

Pipeshield have a large portfolio of handling and installation equipment designed specifically for the safe lifting and installation of our products. Offered on a daily hire rate we have equipment around the world that can help optimise your installation and vessel time.

Installation Frames and Beams – Our common sized frames and beams are 6 metres in length to suit the most common mattress types, however, we do have equipment up to 12 metres. We have several types of frames, listed below, and can be vented to enable working at deeper conditions. (>200 metres).

Static

Mainly used for loading and handling, this simple equipment can make moving mattresses around onshore simpler. Transportation horses can also be provided.

Quick Release

A handle operated release system activated either by diver or ROV. Pull the handle, releasing one end of the slings leaving item being lifted in situ as you lift the frame or beam away.

Quick Release

Dual Release

As with the quick release equipment Dual Release, are handle operated release systems activated either by diver or ROV. Pull the handle, releasing one end of the slings leaving item being lifted in situ as you lift the frame or beam away,  but these frames have independent release mechanism enabling you to install two mattresses separately during one installation.

Dual Release

Hydraulic Release

This surface operated frame has a hydraulic release kit (HRK) fitted to enable the activation without the need for diver or ROV interaction.

Speed Loaders

Lifting equipment designed to speed up the loading process from onshore to vessel. Constructed or steel angle bar and steel wire slings these are used in conjunction with our standard frames enabling multiple mattresses to be lifted simultaneously*. (Note: Industry Speed loaders were designed for onshore handling of mattresses and not for overboarding as these do not comply to the DNV code)

High Payload Wet Storage System

Pipeshield ‘s patented Heavy Duty Wet Storage system is the only fully DNV compliant system for the deployment of multiple mattresses through the splash zone. Comprising of a heavy-duty base frame coupled with a top frame, the 60t capacity system enables stacks of mattresses to be lowered to the seabed in cartridges. Using standard operations the mattresses can then be individually lifted into place.

Decommissioning using the Wet Storage System

The system can also be used for the recovery of mattresses for decommissioning. The mattresses are loaded onto the Wet Storage Base subsea and then recovered to the deck of the awaiting vessel.
