Pipeshield recently supplied over 9,000 tonnes of secondary scour protection for the Aberdeen Bay Offshore Windfarm.
Contracted to major Dutch contractor Boskalis, Pipeshield filled and supplied over 4,500 two tonne drop bags containing graded granite supplied to a required specification from a locally sourced quarry and delivered to Peterhead, the main port of mobilisation.
Using Pipeshield’s specialist quick release equipment, Boskalis were able to activate up to ten drop bags simultaneously, depositing the scour protection around the bases of the eleven turbine foundations.
Pipeshield’s drop bag system can be significantly more cost-effective than traditional rock dumping methods which tends to require much larger vessels. Used in conjunction with our specialist quick-release frames both material requirements and vessel utilisation can be optimised.
